Another Superfabulous Tuesday!

Again!

It certainly had its merits, and Tuesday's always better than Monday isn't it?!

Today's a good day, in fact it's been a good few days - in recognition of that fact I feel it's time to play this...........

I also had a rather entertaining conversation with Boss today, it went a little like this..............

Boss - (trying to come up with possible transport solutions should we be relocated elsewhere) "……….and there's always self-helps groups, I mean car share schemes……."

Me - (interupting) "Boss, did you just suggest that I seek a self-help group?!"

Boss - "Heidi, the group hasn't been invented yet that could help you and that's not a group, that's a stadium crowd!"

I got my own back though by singing  'I feel pretty' (yep, from 'West Side Story' although I have to admit I was thinking more along the lines of 'Anger Management' ) down the phone at him in the hope that (as has previously been the case) it'd stick and at some point in the afternoon he'd end up singing it at his desk ;-)

Walk a Different Way Day!

I thought I'd walk a different route to and from work today, this could have been dangerous given my ability to get lost in my own house...........however, it appears my bat senses are on full alert (in keeping with Superhero Day later this month!) as I made it to work and back again - ok, I have to admit that I did have to do extensive research (and print out maps etc) just to do a little detour but I didn't think Boss would appreciate a phone call at 10am to say that I'd be in as soon as I figure out where I am!

Showcase a New Dance Move Day!

Hmm, I was going to start my line dancing again for this one (which isn't technically showcasing a new dance move but it's as close as you're going to get!) as, between my holiday and various other things, it has slipped a little over recent weeks!

However, I think maybe the gardening has taken a toll on me and my back is well and truly feeling it - so, I decided on a long hot soak in the bath instead!

Boss did assure me though that he was doing a bit of Dad Dancing in his chair in the office so I guess I don't feel too bad about giving this one a miss!

Punch the Air!

Must be careful not to get confused with this one - it'd be the perfect excuse ;-)

I'm sure this was supposed to be a punch the air in some sort of enthusiastic 'YES' kind of way - it was agreed (between Boss and I) that given how the day was shaping up it was possibly a good idea to avoid any sort of movement that would involve my fist travelling past my face at any kind of speed!

It's been a good day though - in the way that it's been very much a Mr Bean day which has provided me with no end of amusement to the the point where I was getting a little giddy at one point!

It started with me having to call work and ask someone to check my office for my handsfree set for my phone, this was after searching all over the flat for it - no sign of it in the office so I was left with no choice but to drag the rubbish bags I'd put out last night back in the house to go through them looking for my handsfree.  Still no sign of it so I put the rubbish back out (thank god the collection isn't early!) and went back inside - and there was my handsfree, in full view!  Time for that eye test methinks!

Then I tootled over to the hospital for physio but I've got so used to going to spinal rehab at 11am that I'd turned up to my 10am physio appointment an hour late!  Luckily they can fit me in again tomorrow but that's not exactly how I was planning on spending my privilage day off work!!

Anyway, the rest of the day continued in a similar vein, I'm not sure whether to punch the air in celebration that it's almost over or for having had the most bizarre, backwards day!

Enthusiasm Day!

It was difficult to muster any enthusiasm for anything today - it's been soooo hot!  The first thing I did when I got up was drag out the big fan to put at the bottom of the bed in the hope of having a cooler night tonight, I think even the cats might overcome their natural terror of the fan judging by the amount of aimless collapsing that's been going on throughout the day!

I did drum up some enthusiasm to get myself outside at lunchtime today to top up the tan I started yesterday and then started to feel a bit more enthusiasm as it got closer to Kevin and Ray arriving for another evening of putting the world to rights!

And I'm sure if Boss had been at work today I'd have been made to shout YAY down the phone until one of us at least felt reasonably enthused!

Hahahaha - I really was getting entusiastic, thanks to Boss for pointing it out................I was a day early, it was supposed to be on Tuesday!

Eye Candy Spotting Day!

Oh. dear.

Well, it was tough enough last year but of the 9 'willing' volunteers (including Santa) who allowed themselves to be photographed Dennis, Paul, Myles and Charles have all left for pastures new and Boss wasn't on site today!

Ray, Andy and Santa (and his family) are still around though so there'll an ocular treat for you all once I've sorted my camera software out - plus Brian let me take his photo this year too!

And here's the treat ;-)

I did schedule things so that Keith and I did one of our lunches (at least if I actually leave site there's a chance of spotting some eye candy!) but we had to reschedule so no joy there I'm afraid!

I also hoped that meeting with Webby for a couple of beers after work might provide opportunity but it seems Harrogate seems to be curiously lacking in eye candy today!

But thanks to the return of my repaired laptop I was finally able to do some eye candy spotting later when I spoke to Dylan ;-)

Cup of Tea Tuesday!

Ok, I kind of feel obliged to expand on the efforts of last year - but I'm not sure how!

Well, I suppose I could tell you everything you could possibly want to know about tea, or you could just look here.

I could tell you how wonderful Bean and Bud is, but I think you really need to go and experience the flowering tea (yes, flowering) for yourself (and the amazing cakes, don't forget the cakes!)!

I would have offered to buy Boss a cup of tea since he was visiting today but he doesn't drink it!

I've recently found myself making and drinking more tea due to the influence of Mr (shall I make us a nice cup of tea) Browne but I have to admit that it's never tasted as good as it used to taste when my dad used to make it for me in my red melamine (according to Bernie all my crockery etc should be made of melamine) cup from playschool (with my name written on it in my mums nail varnish).

Whatever happened to that cup? I know I still had it when I was married - did it become one of those random things that just disappear when you move house, like my cake tins/David Eddings books/the wing nuts for attaching the legs to the dining table?

Still, at least I'm no longer throwing as much milk out at the end of the week (and why, in my mind, did that seem better financially - it's costing me more in blummin tea bags!)!

Stroke a Kitten Day (Puppies Also Acceptable!)!

Time for Robocat to visit the office again!  I was only in for half a day though so we had to make the most of all opportunities, having worn the 'wings' (bunny ears) last year it was time to try the red springy things (technical term) this year.

Elaine spotted the on-site black cat this morning as she arrived at work - no chance of getting close enough to stroke it though!

I think it might be time to check out Robocat's instructions as I'm not quite sure what mode he was in today but he kept emitting random psycho cat noises and taking off at break-neck pace across the desks in an attempt to launch himself off the edge - being in the office often has the same effect on me.

I left Dylan at home brushing Rosie and Jim (he had to go one better than stroking, it's his competitive nature!).

I'm loving that Boss thought it was 'Stroke a Chicken Day' though - hmmmmm.

Trust Your Uncle Al Day!

I wish I'd photographed Boss's reaction when he arrived in the office this morning and discovered it was Trust Your Uncle Al Day!

Over the last 2 (and a bit) years this has possibly got to be the most uttered phrase (closely followed by 'Heidi/Orange, get help.') by Boss - and, in fairness, he hasn't let us down yet!

I don't think he was overly surprised to find that I'd scheduled this day as one of my own 'extras' in the diary - he definitely wasn't expecting that I'd have a t-shirt and stickers made to commemorate the occasion though!  Well done to everyone in the offices who wore/displayed a sticker!

Marvellous Monday!

Waking up with the same smile on my face that I fell asleep with

Knowing there's only 4 more sleeps to go

March extra - Notice the Snowdrops, Aren't They Lovely

Chocolate Orange from Boss (because it just had my name written all over it ;-)

Complimentary end of year appraisal with Boss (the chocolate caramel shortcake bites and personalised desk area decoration may have influenced this)

Something that I've been waiting for arrived in the post

Elaine's efforts at gingerbread self portrait - to add to the collection!

Picked up another 2 dances (muscle memory is a wonderful thing!)

Long hot soak in bath

News that 4 sleeps might be only 3 sleeps!

Just overall marvellousness (did you know that spell check suggests murderousness for marvellousness!)!

Enthusiasm Day

Today is Enthusiasm Day!

Yay!

Ok, so it didn't start out Yay at all, I really wasn't feeling it, but by lunchtime it was heading in the right direction and now (21:55) I can honestly say I feel positively aglow with enthusiam!

Mr Bewley - you gave me my first (and second) giggle of the day
Ray - you're a silver lining
Boss - well, what can I say (Boss made me keep yelling 'Yay' into the phone until he was convinced I was saying it like I meant it!) - thank you!
Helen (aka Broadie) - I was enthusiastic about Helen bringing in some of her Anglo Italian Trifle (YAY!), Helen forgot the trifle but offered me a babybel instead, this was then downgraded to a sorry looking banana when she admitted to eating the Babybel (but she ate it enthusiastically!)!
Rob - indirectly you've been responsible for hours of enthusiasm this evening!
Kevin - thank you for ensuring the day ended on an enthusiastic note!

Now off to bed for me and my enthusiasm :-)

Night night, sweet dreams!

Think About Lovely Things Day!

Today (actually by the time this posts it'll probably be yesterday -anyway, Friday 2 July) is Think About Lovely Things Day!

Today I was the gatherer of lovely thoughts - this was a good day!

The simplest way to do this is just to list everyone's lovely thoughts so here goes!

Mine - that I'm so lucky to have a small group of really, really good friends (you know who you are), having an amazing time with a chap who may possibly be pretty amazing himself (you also know who you are), seeing Bernie tonight (I hope you know who you are!), my Dad's back from France today (I hope I know who you are lol!), spending a few days with the mentally challenged one (everyone knows who you are!), Jimmy's improvement (aka Conehead), taking part in the midnight walk tomorrow (well, technically later today!)
Paul - living on Chatham Islands (google it - beautiful!)
Denis - a sunny Friday afternoon finish
Bryan - going on holiday in a week
Sarah - New Sony Ericsson Xperia and off work til Wednesday
Ray - I week until 3 weeks leave in Paris, lovely sunny day tomorrow, Brian may be back at work next week, going for tea break in 10 minutes (again, at the time of the gathering)
Elaine - Saturday tomorrow, the canaries have laid 2 eggs, Nelly settling in nicely

Just in case there's any confusion - this is Nelly (nothing to do with the canaries!)

Lyn - gets to Skype with her grandson, Jed, tonight!

Myles - 12.30 finish
Cathryn - going to Graveley's for her birthday tea tonight
Rob - the look of satisfaction on the face of the monkey driving a tank (don't ask!)
Bernie - looking forward to an evening with big sis (that's me!) and lots of wine
Broadie - having a good friend over for a meal and Anglo Italian trifle!!
John S - the weekend
Alan R - going on a bike ride this weekend, son finishing work experience (I'm sure Alan also meant to include getting home and trying his new VPN key lol!)
Keith - outdoor 'As You Like It' tomorrow and Alice's cake next week!

Lots of lovely thoughts! Now I'm going to go and work on my bucket list I think, see you tomorrow (Snoozy Saturday)!

Smile at a Random Day

Thursday July 24 was Smile at a Random Day

I guess it depends on what you mean by random, is it someone you don't know or is it someone you do know who's also a 'bit random'? To make sure I covered all bases I did both - it's up to you which you think is which!

1. Boss (via VC)
2. Two Total strangers (in Boss's VC room when they shouldn't have been)
3. Helicoptor officers (we were visted by West Yorkshire Police air support today - all very exciting - I got to sit in the helicopter but they wouldn't take me up in it, apparently although I have enough airmiles to cover a trip in a helicopter, West Yorks Police don't participate in the scheme - who knew?!)
4. Rudy (seriously, I couldn't have planned it any better, you just don't get any more Random! And no, I don't have a fag, and, no, I don't have a pound either)
5. Man with Dog (poor bloke, dragging the cutest little girly dog I've ever seen after him, it insisted on stopping and refusing to move every time it passed another person)
6. Surly bus driver (obligatory grunt recieved in return)
7. My dad (although this wasn't in person - I got home to a postcard which stopped suddenly half way through and wasn't signed at all, hmm, perhaps get the cards written before the wine's opened!)

I think this day would have been much more interesting with the addition of alcohol and a night out!

Eye Candy Spotting Day!

Thursday 17 June was eye candy spotting day!

Eye Candy
The term eye candy refers to attractiveness, a common slang term for visually appealing persons or effects used to draw mass attention is eye candy. The implication is that they are eye-catching in a superficial fashion, for example due to adding an element of sexuality. Like actual "candy", this addition is seen to be neither nutritious nor substantial, but rather provides a potentially addictive appeal which will sustain the attention of a wider audience, possibly despite their better nature. (Wikipedia)

Ok, I'd like to start this by talking about Jeff Goldblum. Now, under normal circumstances Jeff isn't what could be considered eye candy (in my opinion), however, one of the last scenes in Independance Day and a brief moment in one of the Holsten Pils ads (in the early 90's) definitely qualify him as eye candy in my book (it's the way he walks in the desert and the smile (and knowing look) in the advert!)!

So, my point is that eye candy is all in the eye of the beholder at any given moment, or is that every dog has its day or could it be that one beholder's trash is another beholder's treasure - or all of the above!

Thank you to all those who were willing to be photographed

Ray - thinking person's crumpet!

Denis, Boss and Paul - often mistaken for the three muskateers!

Andy and Miles - often mistaken for Batman and Robin!

Santa - come on, there's no denying that this is eye candy!

Charles - THE best cafe in Harrogate http://www.theginnel.co.uk/index.htm

Keith - my seperated at birth (by 25 years and different parents) brother!

Eating Biscuits Day!

Tuesday 8 June was Eating Biscuits Day - you're not going to believe this but this was one of the most successful days so far!

How? I know, I know, you're asking yourself the same question I did - how is there really any way to make this day exciting or fun (or different to any other day!) at all?

Follow me dear reader and allow me to explain.....................

Ok, in the absence of any ideas at all I surrendered to the cop out option of taking a box of biscuits to the bar on Tuesday evening, I unenthusiastically unwrapped them and unceremoniously dumped them in the middle of the table advising my companions that they had to eat a biscuit and have their photo taken (this was met with great enthusiasm as you can imagine).

The biscuits!

Once I'd broken up the resulting fights over who was going to go first I managed to snap this photo of Boss and Louise - are you impressed yet?

Eating Biscuits Day happened to coincide with Quiz Night at the bar so we all gamely threw in our entrance fee and started with the picture round - pay attention this is where it gets good - just look at the pictures for the picture round! We (team name - BAS (Biscuit Appreciation Society)) got all 20 pictures correct and lost the tie breaker which was something to do with honeybees - which would have only been any use to us had it been Sting Like a Honeybee Day!

By now the water was flowing (yes, water, I can prove it later) and more willing participants (aka victims) had joined our little party!

I was most impressed towards the end of the night when this

was created with the remaining biscuits (see - water, no idea who the wine belongs to - honest ;-), thank you Paul!

Anyway, that was Eating Biscuits Day, I suspect I haven't quite succeeded in convincing you just how exciting it all was - I guess you had to be there, on reflection though perhaps it's best you weren't!

Eating Biscuits Day conveniently coincides with the return of Vinnie! (I'm obsessed with pandas - this advert is pure genius!)

Go to your supermarket - tell them Vinnie sent you, for the good stuff!!
