I-Had-Fruit-Yesterday-Chocolate-and-Biscuits-Day

Why is it that the the things which are good for you rarely taste as good as the things that aren't?

And it's not just us, the same can be said for animals too I think - Rosie's going through a phase where she's refusing to take the teaspoon of oil she has to have every morning so it's become somewhat of a battle of wills between us, one which I generally win with the assistance of a large towel and the fact that I'm bigger than her!

This morning I didn't wrap the towel tight enough and a paw snuck out and caught me - I still managed to get the oil down her throat though!

So, back to the matter at hand....................um, ok, I may have got today and yesterday a little mixed up!

I actually had some fruit and veg type stuff today - only because I had a crazy relative (Uncle Thomas - of the two brides fame) visiting for lunch (he demanded something 'special' for lunch so I told him I'd make sure Bernie was there ;-)

Lunch - Balsamic pork stir fry (peppers, rocket and watercress), which I forgot to take a picture of so I apologise for the fact that your retinas may possibly be permanently damaged by the following picture of said crazy relative eating it!

followed by Berries in Brandy Yogurt (berries), I was most impressed with my first attempt to do the swirly bits through the yogurt/cream cheese/brandy sauce stuff!

Stroke a Kitten Day (Puppies Also Acceptable!)!

Time for Robocat to visit the office again!  I was only in for half a day though so we had to make the most of all opportunities, having worn the 'wings' (bunny ears) last year it was time to try the red springy things (technical term) this year.

Elaine spotted the on-site black cat this morning as she arrived at work - no chance of getting close enough to stroke it though!

I think it might be time to check out Robocat's instructions as I'm not quite sure what mode he was in today but he kept emitting random psycho cat noises and taking off at break-neck pace across the desks in an attempt to launch himself off the edge - being in the office often has the same effect on me.

I left Dylan at home brushing Rosie and Jim (he had to go one better than stroking, it's his competitive nature!).

I'm loving that Boss thought it was 'Stroke a Chicken Day' though - hmmmmm.

Search Out Baby Animals and Behold Their Cuteness!

All change!

I was aiming to attempt 2 of the extras for March this weekend, it was supposed to be Alphabetise Something  (anything!) on Saturday and Search Out Baby Animals and Behold Their Cuteness on Sunday.

However, it didn't feel right searching out baby animals and beholding their cuteness on Sunday when I knew I'd be slow roasting a cute baby animal and dishing it up with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes etc later on - so I swapped the days round!

There's not much around here in the way of places to seek out baby animals so Bernie and I headed out to Pets at Home in the hope of finding some.  We found some adorable bunnies and I surreptitiously took some pics while Bernie did her best to look like she wasn't with me! Like I said when we got back to mine though..........it's not like you're going to go home and make your own bunnies by copying their designs is it?!

I also couldn't resist a spot of retail therapy when I saw a sparkly dress in the sale!

I don't think Rosie was as impressed as I was!  And is it just me or does Jim look remarkably like a Muskateer?!!

International Do Nothing Day

Yesterday (Sunday 27 June) was International Do Nothing Day

Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to the England team for their support - go, go, gadget team.

Secondly, I cheated.

But, seriously, how can you not cheat at this one?? If I'd stayed in bed all day doing nothing I'd still have been staying in bed all day doing nothing, which is something in itself - aaarrrgh!

So, here are all the things I did on Do Nothing Day,

Got up
Fed Conehead and Rosie
Showered and dressed
Walked to the Pine Woods (5 minutes - don't panic)
Sunbathed
Read
Got Happy (what is it about dogs? Happy, playful, tail wagging dogs, a great big group of them, the answer to everything is in there somewhere - I'm sure of it)
Walked back home (stopping en route for lemonade)
Made a big jug of Pimms n stuff and a big plate of sandwiches
Watched the 'match' (and I use the term in the vaguest sense)
Fed Conehead and Rosie
Watched Grey's Anatomy (nearly there, only 4 episodes left, thank god, before I can get back to what I laughingly refer to as 'my life')
Fed Conehead and Rosie
Went to bed

I would have also written on here about Smile at a Random Day yesterday but felt that would be seriously crossing the line into 'doing something' territory!

Simple Pleasures Day

Thursday 13 May is Simple Pleasures Day!

There's nothing simple about my pleasures!

That said, I have taken pleasure in the simple things today;

Walking to work in the glorious sunshine at 7am this morning
Having a productive day at work
Receiving an unexpected card from a friend
Finally figuring something out after 15 months of trying to get it right
Arranging to spend some time with a friend I haven't had a proper catch up with in a while
Having a favourite childhood meal for dinner
Curling up on the sofa and watching a film with Rosie n Jim
Having a long hot soak in the bath with a large glass of red wine and a good book
Bed!

Ok, I haven't done the last 3 yet but that's the plan!
