Captain's Log Supplemental

Ok, I've been meaning to share this with you for a while.....................

Improv Everywhere, pure genius, I'd love to do this sort of thing! Particular highlights are the spontaneous musicals and the 'Who you gonna call' stunt!

And, as we're having a sharing moment, I'd also like to share Uncle Tom's two brides with you. DON'T PANIC!

Bride 1

Yep, it's a bike. Although I have travelled on the back of a few I know nothing at all about bikes, this, however, is a pretty bike. It's shiny, and I'm often distracted by shiny objects, and if my memory serves me right it was born in 1959 (not that I was there or anything).

And that's Uncle Tom - he's not shiny and was born before 1959!

Bride 2

It's a very pretty, very shiny 1974 Morris Mini Clubman 1275GT

I was honoured to be allowed to sit in the driving seat (the engine was on and everything!) which, as many people know, was risky given my knack for attracting calamity and the fact that being behind the wheel of a car can frequently lead to panic attacks! Speaking of panic attacks - I had a bizarre dream the other night, I was sitting on the sofa with Richard Marx (in the dream) and he turned to me and said "Heidi, it's obvious we love each other." to which my response was a full blown panic attack! Anyway, here's some more photos of stuff - the seats (and roll cage), the things to pull on the inside and outside of car to cut all power and flood with fire putting out stuff (hmm, reassuring), my feet (yes, they were THAT close to the pedals!) and the exterior of the car showing the blood types of the drivers (also reassuring) and the Federation of British Police Motor Clubs sticker (I didn't know there was a Federation of British Police Motor Clubs - he also used to ski for South Yorks Police!)

Right, that's enough sharing for now! Ponder the Universe Day on Sunday, is that the same as every other day when I raise my eyes to the sky and ask "why?"?

;-)

Gaze at Clouds Day

Today is Gaze at Clouds Day

As I'm off work this week I decided to tackle the spare room (again - I WILL sort it eventually, no doubt just in time to move again) as it has a velux window to allow the frequent gazing at clouds as well as sorting through all the crap (I'm sorry there's just no other word for it) that I (and Auntie Betty) have collected over the years! See, multi-tasking, I'm good me!

Yeah, so it would have been better had my first task not been to bury my mobile phone under said crap - blummin thing kept beeping at me but could I find it? Could I buggery!

Anyway, there was plenty of opportunity to gaze at clouds, I had big white fluffy clouds, thin wispy grey clouds, smoky dirty smudged clouds and big black rain clouds. I tried to get some photos that would do justice to the fabulous view of clouds from my bedroom window (the view from here is sooooo much better than the spare room) but I suspect they may fall short. (Yes, I know they're not there, I haven't forgotten, I just can't remember where I put the lead to upload them to the laptop - patience!).

Found it! Here they are

Most Awesome Wednesday!

Yesterday (21 July) was Most Awesome Wednesday!

It got awesome right around 4 'o' clock when Broadie (knight-ess in shining blue armour) picked me up and whisked me away to the magical kindom of Knaresborough! I was then plied with a magical elixir (refered to in some parts as red wine) and treated to a royal feast including chicken cooked in a copious amount of tequilla!

Tequilla!
It makes me happy/drunk/fall over/sick (delete as appropriate)!

MENU

I've just had the disturbing thought that in this scenario it's entirely possible that I'd be in the part of the court jester!

Anyway, we've decided that when they make a movie of my life Mary Louise Parker will play me, Angelina Jolie will play Broadie and Ray Winston will play Bill (which I'm sure Angelina will be thrilled about!) - awesome!

Drink Champagne Just Because Day

Monday 19 July was Drink Champagne Just Because Day.

(Sigh) I'm sorry, I just couldn't lie about it - the only person I had to blame for the fact that I didn't have anything remotely fizzy to drink on this day is...... me!

In keeping with my current budget I'd invested in a mini bottle of Asda Cava to celebrate the day with. Yep, that'd be the same bottle that I drank before going out on Thursday evening (and may also be partly responsible for Feisty Friday).

In my defense I did have every intention of walking down to Adsa in the days between Thursday evening and Monday to replace the bottle but, given that I only began to feel remotely human after closing hours on Sunday, I didn't.

FAIL.

I did, however, take some Thorntons Champagne Chocolate Truffles to work, so in a roundabout way, I'm counting it as a moderate success. You want perfection - this is not the blog for you!

Feisty Friday

Yesterday (16 July) was Feisty Friday!

So, if by feisty you mean troublesome, arguementative and difficult, I think you can safely say I rose to the challenge!

Well, at some time around midnight (ish) on Thursday and continuing for the first few hours of Friday anyway, the rest of Feisty Friday was spent in a semi conscious state on the sofa! And what's wrong with asking a guy what he's planning to do with your number if you give him it? Sounds perfectly reasonable to me - particularly when the guy in question makes you want to instinctively argue with everything he says!!!

Yes, I gave him my number.

Enthusiasm Day

Today is Enthusiasm Day!

Yay!

Ok, so it didn't start out Yay at all, I really wasn't feeling it, but by lunchtime it was heading in the right direction and now (21:55) I can honestly say I feel positively aglow with enthusiam!

Mr Bewley - you gave me my first (and second) giggle of the day
Ray - you're a silver lining
Boss - well, what can I say (Boss made me keep yelling 'Yay' into the phone until he was convinced I was saying it like I meant it!) - thank you!
Helen (aka Broadie) - I was enthusiastic about Helen bringing in some of her Anglo Italian Trifle (YAY!), Helen forgot the trifle but offered me a babybel instead, this was then downgraded to a sorry looking banana when she admitted to eating the Babybel (but she ate it enthusiastically!)!
Rob - indirectly you've been responsible for hours of enthusiasm this evening!
Kevin - thank you for ensuring the day ended on an enthusiastic note!

Now off to bed for me and my enthusiasm :-)

Night night, sweet dreams!

Strange Make Up Day!

Haha! Today is strange make up day!

Ok, so, I got up early so I could get to work early to 'put my face on' - then had to sit around waiting for my ipod to charge enough to get me to work (must have left it playing when I got home last night - d'oh!) because I absolutely cannot walk without my ipod. So, I got to work at the normal time, showered etc, got to the office and promptly disappeared for 15 minutes (don't worry - I wasn't on the clock!).

As there were a number of important looking visitors on site today I avoided the Adam Ant look and went for something a bit more subtle (Subtle being my middle name, along with Houston and Confusion). I started to wonder whether I'd been too subtle when Ray failed to notice anything different (which also makes me question how I usually appear to my colleagues?!)! I decided to just concentrate on the eyes today, a word of advice, if you want to stick anything (like sparkly sequin type things) on your face avoid using nail varnish to do so if at all possible - it burns!

I kept this photo in because I call it my Godzilla look (as soon as I saw it I pictured the promo photo for the film!)!

It's amazing how many people were obviously disturbed and distracted by the bizarre eye make up during conversations with me, but they didn't comment at all (seriously, do I come across as someone who would do this for any reason other than fun?).

Thank you to Denis who kindly offered to be my 'dolly' and let me loose on his face with my 'paints' - I'm sure when he made the offer it had slipped his mind that he wouldn't actually be on site today!

I had a moment of mild panic when I set off walking home and it started raining, but isn't that what sunglasses are for?? Walking in the rain with my sunglasses on (and no coat!) seemed marginally less loony than walking in the rain with 12 different colours (13 including the mascara) running down my face! I passed a chap walking his dog on the way, so he's looking at me thinking 'crazy freak' and I'm looking back at him (obviously he can't see this - I'm wearing sunglasses) thinking 'you have nnnoooooo idea.'

Mad Monday

Today is Mad Monday!

Everyday's mad in the world of Implementation! I strove to strike a balance between craaaazy mad (I know, not PC) and rrraaaaaahhhh, angry mad (it was never going to be one or the other today!), I think I succeeded.

I could list all the things that, quite frankly, have struck me as just plain mad today, however, I don't know who's reading so best not eh?!

I think it is appropriate though to share some of my favourite Tick quotes today, as follows.

And that's just it, Doc - my mind has always been my Achilles' heel!

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Sanity, you're a madman!

Destiny's powerful hand has made the bed of my future, and it's up to me to lie in it. I am destined to be a superhero. To right wrongs, and to pound two-fisted justice into the hearts of evildoers everywhere. And you don't fight destiny. No sir. And, you don't eat crackers in the bed of your future, or you get all... scratchy.

Eating kittens is just plain... plain wrong! And no-one should do it, ever!

Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

He has the mustache of a titan.

I hate broccoli, and yet, in a certain sense, I am broccoli. (Why, oh why, didn't I think of this one for Broccoli Appreciation Day?!)

I'm betting that I'm just abnormal enough to survive.

So once again, we find that evil of the past seeps into the present like salad dressing through cheap wax paper, mixing memory and desire.

The night is young and we have umbrellas in our drinks.

Well, once again we find that clowning and anarchy don't mix.

You know, gang, when you're a superhero, you never know where the day will take you. You may find yourself halfway around the world in the shark-infested waters of true-to-life living. Or you may find yourself going down to the store for a lozenge. You can't know, can you? No. You gotta ride that wave, you gotta suck that lozenge. 'Cause if you don't, who will?

You're not going crazy. You're going sane in a crazy world!

Arthur, that belt is an accessory of evil, and evil is never in fashion.

Oh bugger it - I can't seem to stop, I need to stop, if you want more get them yourself!

More about The Tick!

Paul - this where I got all mine from, there's loads more!

Snoozy Saturday!

Yesterday (Saturday 3 July) was Snoozy Saturday!

I'd like to say I snoozed on and off for most of the day in preperation for getting to the Yorkshire Showground for 11pm to take part in the St Mike's Midnight Walk but, unfortunately, after a late night, I was wide awake (and feeling very tired) at 7am and at 3.40am the following morning am still awake!

I donned the t-shirt I'd spent hours covering in glitter glue (picture to follow - tomorrow, after I've slept!)and completed the walk in 2hrs and 35 mins raising approx £250 for the cause. Thank you and well done to Gabbie who walked with me, and was also made to be interviewed by Stray fm (cos I said yes!) - we were on the radio! I suspect though that no one was listening at 11.30pm!

BIG thank you to all my sponsors - in the current financial climate your support is all the more appreciated.

I also suspect it'll be Snoozy Sunday instead, but don't expect me to write about it - I'll be snoozing!

Think About Lovely Things Day!

Today (actually by the time this posts it'll probably be yesterday -anyway, Friday 2 July) is Think About Lovely Things Day!

Today I was the gatherer of lovely thoughts - this was a good day!

The simplest way to do this is just to list everyone's lovely thoughts so here goes!

Mine - that I'm so lucky to have a small group of really, really good friends (you know who you are), having an amazing time with a chap who may possibly be pretty amazing himself (you also know who you are), seeing Bernie tonight (I hope you know who you are!), my Dad's back from France today (I hope I know who you are lol!), spending a few days with the mentally challenged one (everyone knows who you are!), Jimmy's improvement (aka Conehead), taking part in the midnight walk tomorrow (well, technically later today!)
Paul - living on Chatham Islands (google it - beautiful!)
Denis - a sunny Friday afternoon finish
Bryan - going on holiday in a week
Sarah - New Sony Ericsson Xperia and off work til Wednesday
Ray - I week until 3 weeks leave in Paris, lovely sunny day tomorrow, Brian may be back at work next week, going for tea break in 10 minutes (again, at the time of the gathering)
Elaine - Saturday tomorrow, the canaries have laid 2 eggs, Nelly settling in nicely

Just in case there's any confusion - this is Nelly (nothing to do with the canaries!)

Lyn - gets to Skype with her grandson, Jed, tonight!

Myles - 12.30 finish
Cathryn - going to Graveley's for her birthday tea tonight
Rob - the look of satisfaction on the face of the monkey driving a tank (don't ask!)
Bernie - looking forward to an evening with big sis (that's me!) and lots of wine
Broadie - having a good friend over for a meal and Anglo Italian trifle!!
John S - the weekend
Alan R - going on a bike ride this weekend, son finishing work experience (I'm sure Alan also meant to include getting home and trying his new VPN key lol!)
Keith - outdoor 'As You Like It' tomorrow and Alice's cake next week!

Lots of lovely thoughts! Now I'm going to go and work on my bucket list I think, see you tomorrow (Snoozy Saturday)!
