Which part of "No" don't you understand?

Whenever anyone's asked me this my usual response has been "The N and the O."

Don't take NO for an answer Day  - So, apparently, this idiom was first recorded in 1930 in Winston Churchill's My Early Life : “Don't take no for an answer, never submit to failure.”

You can buy a book called Don't Take No for an Answer - it's about the 2011 referendum and the future of electoral reform.

Riveting stuff.
